Behind the wear parts: Henric Jonasson

At Combi Wear Parts, quality is more than control – it’s a shared mindset. And no one lives that mindset more fully than Henric, Head of Quality Assurance. With over 30 years in the company, Henric brings insight into both the craft and the production. He’s walked the factory floor, run planning operations, and now leads the charge in making every step better—smarter, cleaner, and more precise.

From summer job to strategic role

Henric entered the foundry world by chance. After graduating from high school in 1994, job opportunities were scarce – until Ljungby Stålgjuteri received the order for castings for the Öresund Bridge. That temporary job quickly became a career. “I started with core making, then molding, melting, planning—and eventually, quality.”

He later trained at the Scandinavian Foundry School (RISE), learning the full production flow – from drawings and metallurgy to hands-on casting and testing. That solid foundation is key to how he leads today.

Precision, pattern recognition, and people

As Head of QA, Henric’s focus is clear: improve the repeatability and reliability of Combi Wear Parts’s production. “Every day starts with reviewing yesterday’s output: what was produced, what was rejected, and why.”

But instead of hunting problems article by article, he looks for patterns in failure types – porosity, surface defects, microcracks. “If we solve the root cause, we might fix five parts at once. It’s smarter, and it adds real value”. He leads a dedicated team of QA technicians and inspectors who physically verify parts, monitor treatment, and investigate deviations. Their findings feed directly into morning production meetings and continuous improvements.

From blueprint to reality

Henric plays a central role in driving quality improvements at Combi Wear Parts. He works closely with designers, and production teams to ensure that what’s drawn can also be made – with precision and consistency. “It’s not enough to design a perfect part,” he says. “We need to make sure it can actually be produced, over and over again.”

By focusing on repeatability, root cause analysis, and hands-on coaching, Henric helps turn challenges into opportunities for smarter, more stable processes.

Culture, clarity, and camaraderie

What makes Combi Wear Parts special, according to Henric? “The team spirit. There’s an open tone, a lot of respect, and a good mix of personalities.” He also emphasizes how the growing diversity across departments has had a positive impact: “Having a wider range of backgrounds and experiences – both in production and in the office – makes us better. It strengthens how we think, collaborate, and solve problems together.”

He’s also proud of how much the internal work environment has improved. “Ventilation, dust control, better lighting – it all shows that the company is investing in its people.”

A process to be proud of

To Henric, foundry work is uniquely meaningful: “We don’t just assemble parts. We take scrap metal, heat it to 1700 degrees, shape it, cool it, reheat it, refine it – and produce something that will dig, lift, or crush for years to come. That’s a full-circle process. And it’s ours.”

He believes everyone should know their role – and why it matters. “If you’re step five in a process, your work still determines the success of the whole chain. That’s powerful. And when people understand that quality follows.”
